The Forum for Democratic Change is demanding that the Electoral Commission avail them the Bushenyi Municipality voters’ register.
Toterebuka Bamwenda, FDC Deputy Spokesperson, says they have been demanding for the register ever since the campaigns kicked off to no avail.
Voters in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality go to the poles on Wednesday to elect their Member of Parliament. The seat fell vacant in April this year when the Court of Appeal nullified Nasser Basajjabalaba’s election victory on grounds that he bribed voters during the 2011 parliamentary elections.
But Bamwenda says they want to confirm the legitimate voters in the Municipality and distribute it to the 33 polling stations.

He adds that their polling agents would then compare with the voters during the elections and tally the results.
Bamwenda argues that denying them the register tantamounts to rigging the elections and ballot staffing.

However, Charles Ochola the Electoral Commission spokesperson, says the FDC went too early when the voters’ register was still being updated. But they have been ready since Monday morning.
He confirmed there are 33 polling stations but did not have the number of voters at hand.
Bamwenda says there are 23,000 voters, but Ochola says the number could have changed with the update.
Ochola adds that all is set for the Wednesday by elections and the ballot boxes shall be transported any time from today.
The FDC final rally is to be held this afternoon at St. Paul Primary school in Bushenyi.
Odo Tayebwa, the FDC candidate is boosted by top party members include former East African Community Secretary General Nuwe Amanya Mushega, Retired Major General Mugisha Muntu, FDC Women league chairperson Ingrid Turinawe, and MPs Paul Mwiru and Mugume Kaginda among others.
Tayebwa is facing competition from NRM’s Basajjabalaba and two independents, Robert Bwarare and Ismail Kikurwe.
President Yoweri Museveni was also expected in the area on Monday to boost Basajjabalaba’s campaign. But FDC officials are alleging that the NRM is ferrying supporters from Mitooma, Buhweju, Rubirizi and Sheema districts.
