Nebbi town council authorities have asked President Yoweri Museveni to fulfill his pledge to construct modern offices for the town council. In his 2011 election campaigns Museveni pledged to construct for Nebbi town council a historical office block once re-elected into office.
Joseph Olore, the engineer Nebbi Town council says that Museveni gave them shillings 100 million to kick start the construction work. He explains that the project stalled halfway because of a hike in the construction materials. Olore says that the council managed to raise shillings 26 million from local revenue but they need about 300 million shillings to complete the project.
He therefore appeals to the president to avail the money in fulfillment of his election pledge. James Chombe-Muchek, the LC 3 chairman Nebbi Town Council says that they have been following up the pledged with the president’s office in vain. He says that there is need to complete the office block because most of their technical officers share office space which affects their performance.
He says that they cannot afford to raise the needed 300 million from local revenue to complete the office block. Betty Adima, Nebbi Resident District Commissioner asks the town council authorities to follow up the pledge patiently since the budget will be read this Thursday.
