Priest in Fresh Row with Christian Over Church Warden

Religion
Kabakiriraho was appointed the chief warden of All Saints Church after the Christians rejected Kenneth Bekunda who had been appointed by the parish priest.
A fresh row has erupted between Christians of All Saints Church in Kabale municipality and their parish priest Rev. Joshua Owoyesiga because of his failure to recognize Jeninah Kabakiriraho, the new chief church warden. Kabakiriraho was appointed the chief warden of All Saints Church after the Christians rejected Kenneth Bekunda who had been appointed by the parish priest.

Following the appointment of Kabakiriraho, Christians buried their differences until last Sunday, when Owoyesiga refused to inaugurate him as a chief warden drawing angry reactions from the church members. They are now demanding for the immediate transfer of the parish priest. Hillary Ainomugisha says that the priest has proved to be too stubborn by deliberately refusing to inaugurate the chief church warden he appointed himself.

Drakes Owoyesiga, another Christian accuses the priest of backtracking on his promise to bring reforms and bring an end to the standoff in church. He says that they want the parish priest replaced to bring unity in their church. Sheila Katabazi, another Christian at Kabale All saints church says that the priest openly said that Kabakiriraho will only become a ceremonial church warden, adding he will never become a signatory to the church accounts.

But Rev. Joshua Owoyesiga the All Saints church parish priest denies all the allegations against him saying that they are aimed at tarnishing his names. He however, didn’t explain why he didn’t inaugurate. Rev. Captain George Tumwine the Diocesan secretary Kigezi Diocese says that the standoff is being held by All saints church but says the Diocese will intervene once the matter is brought to their attention.
