Former technical director of the Nigerian Football Association Tom Saintfiet has declared his interest to take over the vacant position national football coach of Kenya’s Harambee Stars.

Two days ago, the Football Kenya Federation (FKT) dismissed the entire technical bench after the team failed to qualify for the second round of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Head coach Francis Kimanzi was demoted to the position of technical director.

Uganda Cranes advanced to the next round after beating Congo Brazzaville 4-0 on June 16 to register a 5-3 aggregate win. The likes of Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania all failed to make it to the next round.

In an online interview with URN on Thursday night, the 39 year old Saintfiet said he feels he is the right man to change Kenyan football and his record in Africa counts. Saintfiet has also handled national teams of Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The Belgian national who was earning 20,000 US Dollars in his recent job in Nigeria and speaks Dutch, English, French, German and basic knowledge of Arabic, Afrikaans, Faeroes and Spanish, said that he has always wanted to coach a team in East and Eentral Africa because of the presence of too much talent.

Saintfiet has also handled Shabab Al Ordon Club in Jordan, BV Cloppenburg in Germany, and Rops Rovaniemi in Finland.
