Ronald Semakula commonly known as Rubeleto, a businessman who owns Rubeleto Construction Company, on Friday appeared before Nakawa Magistrates Court to answer two counts of attempted murder.

Rubeleto was arrested on June 17 after he allegedly shot at and injured two people in Kampala. Prosecution let by Beatrice Adong alleges that on the said date at Club Silk in Kampala, Rubeleto shot at Joab Nyakaana and Richard Sam Ojara, thereby attempting to cause the end of their lives.

The businessman, however, denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Esther Nambayo and was granted cash bail of 500,000 Uganda shillings while his three sureties were bonded at five million shillings each. The sureties included Rubeleto Construction general manager Jovia Mulindwa, Henry Lubowa, national primary teachers association chairman and Isaac Mugenyi, the legal officer of Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited—UETCL.

Rubeleto returns to court on July 23 for mention of his case.
