President Yoweri Museveni will on Sunday meet his top party leaders, including Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga and Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi.
The meeting, whose agenda has been kept a secret to be presented on arrival, will take place at the president's country home in Rwakitura, Kiruhura District.
Also invited to attend the meeting, according to sources within the NRM party caucus, are Eriya Kategaya, Minister for East African Community Affairs, Acting Chief Whip Daudi Migereko and Deputy Chairperson of the caucus, David Bahati.
Migereko confirmed the meeting on Friday evening but declined to reveal more details, only saying that it would be an interactive session between the president and his party leaders.
Kadaga, apart from being speaker of the National Assembly is also National Vice Chairperson of the NRM following after Moses Kigongo who is the second in party hierarchy after Museveni.
The meeting comes only a week after a visibly angry Museveni reportedly told off Kadaga and Mbabazi during a special caucus meeting he chaired last week that they should stop taking their personal views as those of the party. The president attacked Kadaga for recently traveling to Arusha for the East African Legislative Assembly—EALA elections and campaigning for Dora Byamukama who eventually lost the regional speakership to Margaret Zziwa.
The president was reportedly angry that he should have been consulted by Kadaga before she went to Arusha.
He accused Kadaga and Mbabazi of causing confusion in NRM, leading to a sharp internal division within the party.
During the recent state of the nation address on June 7, Museveni made a veiled criticism of Kadaga saying some senior party leaders were the ones who exported their confusion from here to a foreign country where he should be the one responsible for foreign affairs.
