Nakapiripirit District in Trouble Over Fake Land Transaction

Local government
Feronia (U) LTD and Pro-solutions accuse Nakapiripirit local government of failing to give them titled to chunks of land that were leased to them in November last year.

Two private firms have threatened to sue Nakapiripirit local government over a fake land transaction. Nakapiripirit district is being accused by Feronia (U) LTD and Pro-solutions of failing to hand over titles of two pieces of land that were leased to them last year. According to the notice signed by Joseph Ekemu, Feronia Uganda Ltd and Pro Solutions contend that in November last year, they applied for land from Nakapiripirit district that was offered to them.

Both Feronia Uganda Ltd and Pro Solutions allegedly paid shillings 440 million and 140 million for leasing Plot 42 along Amudat road Plot 44 on Lokeris road respectively. Ekemu says that since then, his clients have not been given the land they paid for saying that they have patiently waited for the receipt of their certificate title to be released by the district in vain.

He says that his clients have suffered substantial loss and damage in their business endeavor and are now holding Nakapiripirit district local government liable for the loss they have suffered in the long, tedious and costly under taking. He says that they will seek compensation of up to shillings 100 million from the district.

The district has been 14 days to response to the notice. Nakapiripirit district officials have not yet responded to the notice, as they couldn’t be reached by the time of filing this story.  But Richard Panyangara, the LC III chairman Moruita sub county where the land is located says that his people were not consulted on the alleged land sale. He says that they got concerned after seeing money posted on their account, which they later learnt was from the land transaction.
