Expectant Mother Killed in Moroto

Crime
. 29-year-old Amina Angela alias Lala was found dead this morning just about 20 meters away from the UPDF detach in Moroto.
Police is investigating circumstances under which an expectant woman was strangled to death at Kambizzi village on the suburbs of Moroto municipality.  29-year-old Amina Angela alias Lala was found dead this morning just about 20 meters away from the UPDF detach in Moroto. Her body was found by UPDF soldiers while returning from night patrol. They immediately notified both the army and police.

Angela’s body lay on grass with her neck twisted to the right with some traces of blood from her nose. Her left hand showed she had tried to resist her assailant during the scuffle as it remained stretched. Residents suspect that the Angela could have been killed at some other place and her body dumped next to the army detach.

Herbert Sagal, a relative to the deceased says that Angela was seen drinking at Night glory bar in camp Swahili with unidentified man, suspected to be a soldier. He says that the duo bought eggs for breakfast. George Obia, Karamoja Police spokesperson says that investigations into the murders are ongoing, adding that the deceased was seen with some soldiers yet to be identified.

Obia says that preliminary police investigations show that the deceased has been living with her daughter in a rented room in Camp Swahili, a busy commercial area in Moroto Municipality. A postmortem report from Moroto referral hospital says that the deceased was suffocated and strangled to death. In 2009, another woman was strangled to death in Moroto barracks.
