Police Surrounds City Hall

Local government
The heavy deployment of the cops has not gone down well with KCCA councilor. John Muwanguzi, the councilor for Kawempe division said the heavy deployment unnecessary.
Police has sealed off the main gate of Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA.  The cops led by James Ruhweza, the DPC Kampala Central Police Station swung into action on Monday evening after councilors forcefully opened the Kampala district land board offices. They blocked people from leaving and entering the city hall building, leading to an exchange between police and some councilors.

Neither  Ruhweza nor any senior KCCA officials commented about the heavy deployment as they were still locked up in a meeting by the time of filing this story. John Muwanguzi, the councilor for Kawempe division said the heavy deployment unnecessary.

Hanifa Namugenyi, another council said they opened the land offices in line with the court order. Last week, KCCA councilors resolved to open the Kampala District land board following an interim court injunction ordering Jennifer Musisi, the KCCA Executive director open the land offices.

The offices were closed about one month ago on the orders of Jenifer Musisi, the KCCA lord mayor to pave way for investigations into cases of land fraud. However, the Kampala district land board members led by their chairperson Yusuf Nsibambi petitioned high court arguing that the land board was independent of the authority.
