URA FC, Uganda’s representatives at the on-going Cecafa Kagame Club Championships in Tanzania have said they need nothing less than victory when they face Vita Club of DR Congo on Wednesday.
URA coach Alex Isabirye told URN on phone from Tanzania last night that though the tax collectors beat home-side Simba 2-0 in the opening match, they need to beat Vita Club to be sure of the next stage.
Although the Bell Uganda Cup winners started with an impressive victory over the Tanzanian giants, their opponents today were at their very best in their opening match on Sunday that they won 7-0 over Djibouti’s AS Ports.
Isabirye said his players have adapted well to the hot conditions in Dar es Salaam and are hungry to push even harder against the DR Congo team that leads group A. Isabirye wants his players to get early goals so as to express themselves better on the ball with no pressure.
Moses Feni who netted a brace against Simba together with Uganda’s player of the year, Robert Ssentongo, will lead the URA attack. While URA will have to enter the pitch as early as 2pm in the scotching hit, Tanzanian champions Simba will face Ports at 4pm.
In the games played yesterday Rwanda champions APR drew 0-0 with Burundi’s Atletico, while Young Africans humbled debutants Wau Salaam of South Sudan 7-1 with Uganda’s Hamis Kiiza netting three goals. A brace from Saidi Bahamuz and further strikes Stephano Mwasika and Nizar Khalfan sealed the win for Young Africans, while Khamis Deshama Ulama scored his country’s first ever goal at a Cecafa tournament.
