The fuel situation in Hoima has normalized after a week of scarcity triggered by the irregular supplies in the country.
Although the scarcity in Hoima started last week, the situation reached its height on Tuesday this week when most of the filling stations in town ran dry forcing the operators to temporarily close business.
But by Wednesday evening the situation was different as all the filling stations had resumed business after receiving fuel supplies.
At Shell station in the heart of Hoima town, business was normal contrary to Wednesday when a pump attendant Mary Kabajaguzo and her colleagues only sat by to turn away motorists as the station had run dry.
Kabajaguzo says they received fuel supplies on Tuesday evening after spending a week without. She says they have the fuel now in abundance.
At Hoima Total filling station, where business was also closed on Tuesday, the attendants were busy serving customers. None of them could readily talk to journalists.
Meanwhile the new supplies have seen an immediate reduction in fuel prices from shillings 4200-3900 a litre of petrol while diesel fell from 3850 on Wednesday to 3500 shillings a litre.
Boda boda cyclists say they are now relieved. Rodgers Asiimwe, a cyclist says he has been operating on losses as he could not easily hike his charges to cover up the huge expenses on fuel.
Over the weekend, Energy Minister Irene Muloni announced that the fuel situation in the country would improve soon.
