Reigning league champions DMark Power put their past woes behind them to defeat Ndejje University Angels 90-64 in the second round match of the Airtel National Basketball League on Friday night at the YMCA Courts, Wandegeya.
Led by Isaac Afidra, Power dominated play for all the four quarters with Isaac Lugudde and Joseph Ikong netting a game high 18 points each, while Ben Komakech was at his best with 26 assists and 14 points.
Ndejje’s Geofrey Boro scored 24 points but could not stop the University side falling to a dominant DMark Power side. Ndejje centre forward and captain Ivan Soro blamed their loss on poor game planning. Despite the win, DMark Power remain in fourth place in the league behind leaders Kyambogo Warriors, Falcons and Miracle Eagles.
In the tough women’s league game, A-1 Challenge suffered a 61-59 defeat to archrivals KCCA Leopards. Flavia Oketcho was KCCA’s highest scorer on the night with 12 points, while A-1 Challenge had Lizi Kizza and Mariam Birungi score 11 points each.
