Sport S won the men’s title after defeating KAVC A 3-1, while KCCA defended the women’s trophy after a clean 3-0 victory over their arch-rivals KAVC A at the games played in Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

To reach the finals Sport S defeated Inate 3-1 in the quarter finals before seeing off Rwanda’s Kigali Volleyball Club 3-0 in the semi finals, while KAVC beat KCCA 3-1 and GVC 3-1 in the other men’s games.

The Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) team showed their prowess in the women’s event beating their rivals KAVC 25-22, 25-21, 26-24 after they had seen off KAVC B team 3-0 in the semi final.

KAVC Club President Mary Florence Nanyondo told URN that she was very with the level of competition that was exhibited in the two day tournament. “We had expected teams from DR Congo and South Sudan but they failed to make,” added Nanyondo.

The event that attracted a record 16 teams was sponsored by the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) who injected about 25 million Shillings. The foreign teams that took part in the event include; Kigali Volleyball Club, Rwanda Patriotic Army, INATEK (Rwanda), Nyanza Club (Rwanda), Administrative Police (Kenya) and Burundi’s Rukinzo VC.
