Five Builders Held Over Murder

Buliisa Police is holding five builders at Garasoya primary school in Biiso Sub county accused of gang raping and murdering a 25-year-old woman. The suspects are Moses Ocheng, Emmanuel Lanek, Geoffrey Okumu, David Onencan and Charles Onencan, all from Kitgum district. Ibrahim Saiga, the Buliisa district police commander says the suspects are wanted in connection to the murder of Evelyn Ngamita, a resident of Garasoya A village on Sunday night.


The suspects allegedly way laid the deceased and gang raped her before strangling to her to death. Her body was found dumped by the roadside by residents on Monday morning. Saiga says that on the fateful evening, the suspects bought alcohol for their victim in a local bar in the area, only to way lay her as she returned home at about 11pm. He says that the suspects were picked up after one of the residents said he had seen the suspects with the deceased on Sunday night.
 

Saiga says despite the fact that they have not yet established the motive of the murder, preliminary investigations show that the deceased with in love with one of the suspects he declined to reveal. The suspects are now in detention at Buliisa central police station pending murder charges. This is the second brutal murder in the district since the beginning of this month. Earlier this, month an expectant woman stabbed to death by unidentified people in Butiaba Sub County.
