Team Uganda captain for the 2012 London Olympics Ganzi Mugula has said there is no chance Uganda will win medals in swimming.

The 50 metre free style swimmer said although he and female swimmer Jamila Lunkuse are not medal hopefuls, he will focus his energy on getting the fastest time in his life.

Speaking about the entire team, Ganzi told URN on Sunday before leaving for London that he expects a lot from the track and field athletes because they have been very competitive at the international scene and will be competing against these same stars like Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia.

Ganzi said even Dorcus Inzikuru, who has participated in international competitions in the last four years, has a chance because she has the experience. Ganzi added that winning medals in the track and field events will be more of race strategy. He also said he expects steeplechase runners Jacob Araptany and Benjamin Kiplagat and Moses Kipsiro to perform well and win medals because they have trained so hard and have benefited from the recent world meets.

Ganzi and badminton player Edwin Ekiring are the only Ugandan athletes who have arrived in London, while the track and field athletes will all travel next week.
