Otuke LC III Chairman Remanded Over Murder

Court
Oyang appeared before the Lira Grade II magistrate Peter Okoli on Thursday over the murder of Alfred Oluge, the chief of Atek-Okwero-Wee.
George Kamara Oyang, the LC III chairman of Olilim Sub County in Otuke district has been charged with murder and remanded to Lira Central Prison. Oyang appeared before the Lira Grade II magistrate Peter Okoli on Thursday over the murder of Alfred Oluge, the chief of Atek-Okwero-Wee.

Court heard that on 14th July 2012, while at Cuk Odal in Atirayon Parish in Olilim Sub County Kamara incited drunken youth to attack a group of residents opposed to the allocation of 300 acre piece of land to President Yoweri Museveni to establish a livestock multiplication center. The deceased was beaten into Comma, and died while being rushed to hospital.

The incident occurred ahead of a meeting organized by the Lango parliamentary group to resolve the dispute over the land give away. Peter Okoli, the grade II magistrate didn’t allow Kamara to take any plea saying his court lacks the jurisdiction to handle a capital offense. He therefore remanded him to Lira Central Prison until August 02 when his case will come up for mention. Okoli ordered Oyang to appear with his co-accused Alfred Opaka, Ojok, Eric Okello, Joseph Etengo.
