The private firm CANN Concepts which has taken over running of the Lugogo Tennis Club has promised to ring several changes which will promote the game of tennis and also make members feel their money’s worth.
Arthur Ssegawa, a director at the company, told URN in an interview today that they will manage the facility within the agreed terms with the National Council of Sports (NCS). Ssegawa explained that CANN will not abuse the facility, but will promote tennis and also promote the other attached business.
Early this week Uganda Lawn Tennis Association (ULTA) said they were not ready to work with CANN Concepts because they had not been given the blessings.

Asked about the future of veteran tennis coaches like John Oduke and active players Herbert Buyinza and David Oringa who won the Uganda Open title recently, the CANN Concepts boss said he will not disorganize the tennis set-up and will only make sure the tennis people work in-line with his plans as well.
The new tenants of the Tennis Club also promised that they will improve the playing surfaces, put in place new fencing, improve on the water system and also make sure they but canvas to cover two courts when it rains.

When URN spoke to one of the coaches at the Club, Henry Luyinda, he said he was happy with the development because he thinks the place had actually been run down. Lyinda said the change is a good development and their hope is that the new tenant will implement what he has promised.
