Members of Parliament sitting on the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Sports have questioned the seriousness of kick-boxer Moses Golola.
Khiddu Makubuya, the Katikamu South Member of Parliament, on Tuesday said he was not happy with the way Golola and Kick-boxing in general were handling their matters. He asked the officials from the National Council of Sports who were appearing before the Committee to explain.
//Cue on: I have a problem with…
Cue out; About this kick-boxing business,”//
Member of Parliament for Kalungu West, Joseph Gonzaga Ssewungu also asked the NCS officials to explain more on how Golola is managed and if Council was benefiting from some of the monies the fighter’s managers were making.
But the NCS General Secretary Jasper Aligawesa told the members of Parliament that they are in-charge of the amateur Kickboxing boxing but not the professional category where Golola belongs.
The ‘loud mouthed’ Golola has recently lost to Hungarian opponents Mate Zsamboki and Andras Nagy. But these loses came after he had defeated South Sudan’s Qadir Raham in a title fight at Hotel African.
//Cue in: Like kickboxing…
Cue out; In this country,”//
Aligawesa also explained that they have tried to get people to appreciate local sports, especially football, but added that the Premier League in England has made their product very popular and many nations now prefer to watch their league.
NCS Board member Charles Egou Egwau said that it is high time the sports federations get to know how to package their products or even for football to have the league be played at night so that they can attract as many people.
