Sam Arinaitwe, the Kabale district Youth chairperson has been censured from office over alleged incompetence and misappropriation of funds. Arinaitwe was voted out of office by the 16 youth sub county chairpersons representing the 25 sub counties in Kabale district on Wednesday at Terraces hotel. In their August 8th resolution addressed to Joseph Akuza, the Kabale district acting returning officer and copied to all top district officials, the youth leaders accuse Arinaitwe of failing to convene even a single youth council meeting since he assumed office in 2011.
They also accused him of abusing anybody who questions his actions. Alex Owamani, the Kabale District Male youth councilor says that the chairperson has never opened office since he was elected, adding that when he went to visit the youth office he was welcomed by dust and rats. He also accuses Arinaitwe of conniving with the district community development officer to swindle funds provided for training youths.
Owamani says that while money was provided for training 50 youths Arinaitwe only took 30 youths and denied them their transport, meals and accommodation allowances. Gerald Abangira, the youth chairperson Kyanamira sub county says that they decided to censure Arinaitwe because of his disregard of other youth leaders.

Cue out …for the way forward;”//
Adrine Tumukunde, the Kabale district female youth councilor told URN that the district youth chairperson’s office is always locked. However, the embattled youth chairperson Sam Arinaitwe attributes his troubles on misinformation. He denies swindling funds meant for training youths saying that the trainees were meant to cater for their meals and accommodation.

On his alleged censure, Arinaitwe said that, he had only heard it in rumors from his friends. Joseph Akuza, the Kabale district returning registrar has not yet commented on the censure as he couldn’t be reached by our reporter.
