Lyantonde Police is holding 10 suspects in connection to the murder of a coffee dealer David Kaloli from Katoogo village in Kakuto sub county of Rakai district. The suspects are Robert Katende, Robert Tumwesigye, Mathew Aliyo, Jacinta Nakuya, Agnes Nabuki, Berna Nalongo, Jesus Muwonge, Ruth Kaitsi, and Ronald Ssemakula among others.
Kaloli was stabbed to by unidentified on Sunday night on his way to a lodge in Lyantonde town leading to his death.

He reportedly succumbed to death due to over bleeding while being rushed to a clinic for emergency treatment. As a result, Police arrested Jacinta Nakuya, the proprietor of a Pub where the deceased was last seen drinking to help police with investigations into the murder. Martin Lubega, the Criminal Investigations Officer Lyantonde Police Station says that during interrogations Nakuya told police that she saw two men following the deceased from her drinking joint after they spotted him with a lot of money.

As a result, police decided to pick all the people who were in the bar on the fateful night. Lubega says that the preliminary investigations show that all the suspects had a hand in the brutal murder of Kaloli. He says that police has also closed two lodges and Nakuya’s drinking joint in connection to the murder. Lubega alleges that most of the bars and lodges operating in Lyantonde town without authorization have become a security threat as they harbor criminals who terrorize residents in the night.

He has threatened to close all lodges and bars that operate in breach of the set guidelines. Lubega says that the suspects are being held in Lyantonde police cells waiting to be charged with murder and assault.
