Security officials in Western Uganda are still puzzled at how Yassin Muhwezi, a porter in Kabalagala transported a stolen gun from Kampala to Mitooma district unnoticed. Muhwezi allegedly grabbed the gun from Alex Odeya, a private guard attached to Securiko Uganda to kill Nazariya Tunanukye, a prominent businessman in Kashenshero.
It is alleged that Muhwezi was hired by Martia Musinguzi to kill Tunanukye, who he accuses of stealing his coffee produce.
Hillary Kulayige, south mid western regional police commander says that they arrested Muhwezi and Musinguzi on Monday night on a tip off before they could fulfill their mission.
He explains that they recovered A 303 loaded rifle with five rounds of ammunition that was stolen from Odeya at a construction site in Kabalagala. Kulayige however says that he was shocked to learn that the suspect used Kalita Bus to transport the stolen gun from Kampala to Mitooma unnoticed.
He cautioned police and private security firms against deploying one security personnel since they are being targeted by gun grabbers.
