Forum for Democratic Change Party (FDC) has been plunged into mourning following the death Patrick Omara, party’s spokesman in charge of Lango region.

Patrick Omara, who was suffering from a long illness, passed away on Friday evening at Anyeke Health Centre Four in Oyam district.

The deceased was among the three opposition figures including former Oyam South MP Isha Otto and Charles Angiro Gutmoi former Erute North MP who were being tried for incitement of violence after they were arrested during anti UMEME power outrages demonstrations in December 2011.

Omara was admitted to the facility two weeks ago after he was brought back from Mulago national hospital.

Patrick Opio, in-charge Anyeke health centre IV in Oyam district, says the deceased died as a result of multiple organ failure.

On Sunday, leader of opposition Nandala Mafabi sent his condolences describing the late FDC spokesman as a fearless opposition figure who was struggling for total democracy in the country.

Mafabi said Omara was among the few people who were championing the struggle to bring change in the country. He donated 400,000 Uganda shillings towards the burial expense of late Omara.

He will be buried on Saturday August 25th. FDC party president (Rtd) Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye is expected to be the chief mourner.

Tom Odur Anang, former Kwania county MP, and FDC vice chairperson described the deceased as a corruption fighting opposition.

The deceased worked as a radio journalist at the Lira based Catholic owned Radio Wa and Radio North between 2005 up to 2008 when he joined active politics.
