National Basketball League champions DMark Power found the going tough when they fell to Rwanda’s Espoir 67-54 in one of the semi finals of the on-going FIBA Africa Zone 5 Basketball Club Championship on Friday night.

Espoir, who beat another Ugandan side Kyambogo Warriors in the ground stages, gave DMark Power no chance from the start of the game to lead in all four quarters. Aristide Mugabe had a game high 28 points, while Kami Kabangu and Jean Habineza had 13 and 12 respectively for the Rwanda team. Only Isaac Afidra had double figures for DMark Power with 11. DMark Power’s Joseph Ikong admitted that the team was not at it’s best in shooting though they played a good game.

The second men’s semi final saw defending champions Urunani from Burundi beat Kenya Commercial Bank 76-61.

In the women’s category, two Kenyan sides stormed the finals. Defending Champions KPA had no respect for Uganda Christian University Lady Canons whom they defeated 73-44, while another Kenyan side Eagle Wings also humbled KCCA Leopards (Uganda) 76-44 to storm the finals.
