Fuel Shortage Hits Adjumani District

Business
Severe Fuel shortage has hit Adjumani District, paralyzing several businesses in the district.
Most businesses like salons and Internet cafes, have been forced to cut their working hours to 7:00 pm.
The only petrol station in the district has closed its doors to fuel dealers, after it ran out of supplies a week ago.
Illegal fuel dealers popularly known as the OPEC boys, are ferrying fuel from Moyo town and selling it at three times higher the original price. A liter of petrol and diesel is being sold between 6,000 and 7,000 shillings on the black market.
The fuel shortage has also affected fieldwork activities by non governmental organisations operating in Adjumani district. Many officials say their vehicles have been grounded, due to fuel shortages.
