Acholi MP's to Sue Government for Torture

Three Acholi Members of Parliament have threatened to sue government for alleged torture.
The Aruu county MP, Odonga Otto, the Agago county MP, Morris Ogenga Latigo and the Kilak county MP, Michael Nyeko Ocula, claim that they were assaulted by government soldiers on November 22 2004.
The MP's claim that armed soldiers confronted and beat them up, during a consultative meeting, at Acholi Burr trading centre in Pader district. Ogenga claims that he sustained head injuries, while Ocula got swellings on the head and back. Otto says that he sustained swollen arms and legs as a result of the beatings.
The MPs say that they have already notified government about their intention to sue. The MP's want court to order government, to compensate them for the suffering and embarrassment they faced.
