The Democratic-DP Party has established a human rights desk to monitor the human rights situation in Uganda.
The DP deputy secretary general, Lulume Bayiga says that the party's human rights desk will specifically engage in programs that strengthen the human rights of the people and guarantee free and independent democratic institutions.
Bayiga says that the Democratic Party will work with other human rights related organizations, the government, and parliament to promote the principles of accountability and transparency in the public and private sectors.
The DP human rights desk, will first investigate claims that the National Resistance Movement party - NRM, is harassing people who don't support president Museveni.
