News
Newly elected Members of Parliament have started intense lobbying for the composition of Parliamentary committees in the 8th Parliament.

Members of the 8th Parliament will swear-in Thursday next week starting off the first multi party house in Uganda in over 20 years.

The NRM political party, which has a majority of the MPs plans to dominate the key committees in the house.

But within the party serious lobbying on those to take key positions like Speaker of Parliament, Deputy Speaker and Chief whip are dominating debate within the parties.

NRM members who spent three days on a re-treat at Munyonyo were told that their party chairman, President Yoweri Museveni will appoint the party chief whip in Parliament.

The race is said to be between Kabale woman MP Hope Mwesigye and Bunyangabu MP Adolf Mwesige.

Hope is the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs while Adolf is the deputy Attorney General and Justice and Constitutional Affairs State Minister.
