Police in Kampala have arrested six conmen, for extorting money under false pretence.
The suspects were arrested from Stella zone in Najjanankumbi, along Entebbe Road. Police have identified the suspects as Orimiyani Muda a Nigerian national, Luzinda Silus of Najjanankumbi, Moses Lubega Rashid Khamis road in Old Kampala, Mukiibi Richard of Bulange Mengo, Pascal Kakooza of Stella zone and Rashid Juuko of Kibumbiro in Busega.
Kampala Regional Police Commander, Grace Turyagumanawe, says the conmen were arrested following a tip from a catholic priest, Father Godfrey Lubega of Namagunga Secondary School. The conmen extorted 400 million shillings from the priest under the pretext that they were going to find him some donors.
Turyagumanawe says the conmen used the money to buy houses and cars. Police have also impounded four of their cars.

Turyagumanawe says the suspects will charged with obtaining money by false pretence. He says that police have stepped up operation against criminal gangs in the city.
Kampala city has of recent been hit with a new wave of conmen who extort money from unsuspecting individuals.
In May, four conmen posing as immigration officers were arrested at Yuasa Investments, a car depot on Jinja road in Kampala, while they attempted to con the employees of money.
