Kabale Court Orders Closure of Human Rights Body

The Kabale Chief Magistrate's court has ordered the Kigezi human rights activists association to close down its offices, and wind up its activities in Kigezi.
Kigezi Human rights Activists is a Non government organization whose mission is to promote and fight for the rights of the underprivileged members of Society.
The court ruled that the activities of Kigezi Human rights Activists did not comply with the general interests of the judiciary and threatened to damage relations between the courts of law and the people.
The chief magistrate, Irene Akankwasa, says that court also found that the organizations activities threatened the peace and social order of the courts by spreading ideas and beliefs offensive to the rule of law, a matter which forms a substantial violation of the law.
The court further accuses the Human Rights body for uttering statements which
Show disrespect, contempt of Court and undermine the process of the law.
The organizations director could not be reached for comment as he was reportedly out of office.
