A large crowd traveled to Mpigi on Thursday for a thrilling replay of the final of the Secondary Schools' Handball championships.
The match between Gombe SS and Kibibi SS pitted the top teams in the handball league against each other for the second time, with both sides playing hard to prove they deserved the tournament's top spot. The first final match played two weeks ago was aborted prematurely due to poor visibility.
Thursday's game was tense with Gombe obtaining an early upper hand, but Kibibi followed closely behind. By half time, the match ended with a 15-all draw. The teams remained neck-to-neck and when the final whistle was blown, Gombe was visibly relieved to have obtained a slim 33-32 win against Kibibi.
Gombe's win secures it a place in the East African Secondary Schools Games due for Dar es Salaam in August.
