A Traffic Police officer has been arrested for corruption.
Alex Masendi attached to Yumbe district police station was arrested on Thursday following reports that he had staged an illegal roadblock and was extorting money from unsuspecting drivers.
The northwestern Regional Police Commander, Okello Makmot, says Masendi's arrest brings to six the number of police officers facing corruption charges in the region. The others include the Arua deputy Criminal investigations officer, Kenneth Akuma and four detectives.
Makmot says that the police officers Masendi will be asked to explain their actions before a disciplinary committee.
