Government has set December 31st this year as the deadline for the internally displaced people in Lango and Teso sub regions to leave the camps and return to their homes.
The state Minister for Disaster preparedness and refugees, Musa Ecweru, says government has come up with a six-month emergency action plan to resettle the IDPs.
But Ecweru says the deadline will not apply to the IDPs in Acholi sub region where government is currently carrying out a decongestion exercise in the camps.
He says under the plan government will partner with non-governmental organizations that can facilitate the return of IDPs by helping them to build homes.
Ecweru says government will ensure that the IDPs are provided with both food and non-food items to make their resettlement exercise smooth.
