The parliamentary defense committee has thrown out the Ministry of Defense Policy Statement on the basis that it is did not present any new issues.
The committee chairperson, Rose Namayanja said the policy statement is exactly the same as that which the Ministry of Defense presented last year. She noted that the statement addresses old issues like eliminating the LRA from the Teso region, a matter that was dealt with last financial year.
Namayanja said her committee would not discuss the Defense Policy Statement until the Minister of Defense, Crispus Kiyonga explains it.
//Cue in: iWe have summoned #i
Cue out: i# statement is inadequate.i//
Namayanja said the only thing that changed in the Policy Statement was that the signature at the end had changed from Amama Mbabazi to Crispus Kiyonga.
The Ministry Policy Statements are budgetary proposals for the financial year. They outline a ministry's expenditure the previous year and its planned activities for the next year.
