Mother of Siamese Twins in Arua Appeals for Help

Health
A 20-year-old mother in Arua is appealing for assistance following her birth to Siamese twins.
Harriet Aru, a resident of Uleppi sub-county delivered the twins at Kuluva Hospital after a 40-minute operation. The premature twins both weigh three kilograms and are in stable condition.
The Medical Superintendent of Kuluva Hospital, Dr. Patrick Kercan, says the twins are joined from chest to the umbilicus and share an umbilical cord. He says this is the first time Siamese twins have been born at the 60-year-old hospital.
Dr. Kercan says is consulting with a senior surgeon at Arua Referral Hospital, Dr. Charles Olaro, to assess the risk of separating the twins in Arua or the option of sending them to Mulago Hospital in Kampala.
The birth of the Siamese twins is Acu's first after two miscarriages. Acu calls on the public to come to support her financially in order to fund the operation to separate her twins.
Acu's husband, Jacob Acema, is a student at a technical school in Uleppi.
