The legislative Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee has noted with concern the tension between the Inspector General of Government and the Attorney General.
Speaking at Parliament today, Kampala Central MP, Erias Lukwago, noted that on several occasions the two offices have abused each other of undermining their authority. Lukwago, who is a member of the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, said the IGG's office claims that State Attorneys regularly work against it, hindering its duty to investigate people for corruption and fraud.

The Attorney General, Khiddu Makubuya, declined to comment on the accusations from the IGG.
The parliamentary committee has resolved to study the IGG's submissions and make appropriate recommendations as soon as possible.
