Local Government Minister, Kahinda Otafiire, has lifted the ban on the bidding process on the running of the Mbale taxi park.
Otafiire last month suspended the biding process for two taxi parks in Mbale town ending a three-month row over the management of the parks.
The Mbale Municipal Council, the Uganda Taxi Operators and Drivers Association (UTODA) and two companies owned by senior army officers are involved in the taxi park wrangle.
The Town Clerk of Mbale, Kenneth Katuli, says Otafiire lifted the suspension on Monday and ordered the council to form an evaluation committee to work along side the contract committee in scrutinizing the bids.
Katuli says Otafiire, also instructed the council to cancel the current tenders for the two parks and award them to the highest biding company.

Tours and Travels Limited, a company owned by Colonel Elly Kayanja and African International Investments Limited owned by General Joshua Masaba both tendered bids to run the park. They lost out to a third company, YY Investments, which is reportedly backed by the Mayor of Mbale, Richard Masaba.
