MP's Worried over Increase in Cement Costs

News
Members of Parliament are worried that Uganda may not meet one of the targets of the millennium development goals on decent housing by 2015.

This follows a decision by the Ministry of Finance to increase the tax on cement by 500 shillings. The MPs wanted the minister of Finance to scrap this tax and make cement more affordable.

The Minister for Finance in charge of General Duties, Jachan Omach, however said the tax cannot be withdrawn, but promised to review it in the next financial year.
