Kampala Resident District Commissioner, Dr. Stanley Kenyatta, has rejected the new bus terminal in Nateete, and has backed the bus companies, which have vowed not to relocate to the new terminal.
Five bus companies yesterday announced that they would not relocate to Nateete bus terminal. The bus companies are Gateway bus service, Perfect Coaches, S.B Transporters, Swift Safaris and Savanna Transporters.
Abdi Husseini of Gateway bus services told the media in Kampala, that the five bus companies were not ready to relocate, because they had pooled close to two billion shillings to construct another bus terminal in Kisenyi.
The announcement by Husseini came shortly after Kampala mayor, Nasser Ntege Ssebagala, said all buses, including interstate carriers taking passengers to Rwanda and Burundi, will effective Tuesday next week, be required to use the Nateete Park
But the Kampala RDC today told the media, that his office was not consulted over the matter. He claims that KCC connived with Lonaco Limited, the company managing the Nateete bus park to approve of the terminal.
Kenyatta says, he is against the new bus terminal because the security of passengers is not guaranteed.

In another development, Kenyatta has directed all veterans who set up businesses in the four gazetted wetlands of Luzira, Wakaliga, Ggaba and Wandegeya, to stay put until KCC finds them an alternative place.
KCC and the National Environment Management Authority, (NEMA) have threatened to evict the veterans from the wetlands. But Kenyatta maintains that KCC must avail an alternative piece of land for the veterans.
