KCC Health Workers Threaten to Sue Council over Union Deductions

News
The Kampala City Council (KCC) health workers have threatened to sue KCC authorities, over failure to deduct two per cent off their salary contribution to the Uganda Medical Workers Union.
The KCC health workers union chairperson, Doreen Nyangoma, accuses the council of ignoring the workers union, which has contributed to dissatisfaction among KCC health workers.
Nyangoma says the KCC has since 2004 refused to sign an agreement with the Uganda medical workers union, binding the council to deduct and remit the two percent salary reduction to the union.

Through their lawyers, Obaa, Musambwa and Company Advocates, KCC health workers want court to order KCC to pay for the damages caused to the workers and the costs of the suit.
Oba says the case will be filed in the Nakawa Chief Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
