Police Receive Donation to Boost IDP Resettlement

News
Police officers, recently deployed to Northern Uganda to provide security to internally displaced persons returning to their homes, have received bicycles to facilitate their work.
The police officers yesterday received more than 540 bicycles from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). Yumiko Takashima of the UHCR Field Office handed over the donation to the police force Officer-in-Charge of Administration, Chris Opio, at Olilim sub-county headquarters in Lira district.
Takashima said the bicycles were the UNHCR's first consignment of support items to help the police provide effective protection to the returning IDPs. She said more equipment including a vehicle, ten motorcycles, and telecommunication equipment will be delivered on Wednesday.
