500 Bodabodas Impounded in Police Operation

News
More than 500 motorcycles have been impounded this week in an operation intended to enforce compliance of the traffic law among bodaboda cyclists.

The operation, jointly conducted by the Transport Licensing Board and the police, seized bodabodas that did not have proper documentation to certify them as passenger service vehicles.

The Secretary of the Transport Licensing Board, Winston Katushabe, says his organization has streamlined its activities to ensure better compliance of the law. He says inspectors from his office are in the field to check the mechanical condition of the bodabodas, examine their logbooks and issue licenses.

The Transport Licensing Board has so far inspected 400 of the impounded motorcycles.

Katushabe says the bodaboda owners will be permitted to collect their motorcycles after paying 10,000 shillings for the annual passenger service vehicle license.
