Lira School Head Teacher Suspended for Mismanaging UPE Funds

News
The Lira district public Accounts Committee has suspended the head teacher of Lira Modern P.7 school, Hudson Adoko, for mismanaging the Universal Primary Education (UPE) funds.

The district principal internal auditor, Alimaso Opila, says Adoko together with two of his deputies, failed to account for more than 100 million shillings, meant for the implementation of UPE projects at the school.

Alimaso says Adoko will not be re-instated until investigations are complete.

The District Education Officer, Milton Abua, says he has on several occasions advised Adoko against misusing the UPE funds.

Abua says, he was forced to hand over the matter to the district public accounts committee, after Adoko refused to account for the 100 million shillings which was recently disbursed to the school.
