Masindi Education Secretary Resigns from Office

Politics
The Masindi Municipal Secretary for Education and Health, Johnson Kiiza, has resigned from office in protest of the actions of the area LC3 chairperson.
In his resignation letter sent to the municipal authorities today, Kiiza accused the Masindi LC3 chairperson, Joshua Amanyire, of usurping the powers of the municipal executive committee. He said Amanyire does not respect any of the executive members and uses divisionary tactics to keep the council in check.
Kiiza's letter, which was this morning read to the Town Council by the Speaker, Peter Kamara, also blamed the LC3 chairperson of failing to convene executive committee meetings to deliberate on important issues of concern.
Amanyire said he was unable to give a proper defense because he arrived in Masindi from official duty in Kampala just a few minutes before the council meeting.
