KCC to Introduce Traffic Policy for Kampala

The Works, Transport and Physical Planning committee of Kampala City Council, plans to enact a Traffic Policy for Kampala city.

The committee chairman, Abdu Mayanja, says the policy seeks to promote safe, efficient, and orderly movement of vehicles throughout the city, and also provide safe and accessible means for pedestrian movement.

Mayanja also says the policy will seek to create conditions where the city street system can be utilized efficiently and safely.

The committee also wants Council to reinstate the KCC Traffic Units, to control traffic in the city. The unit will be responsible for ensuring order on the roads, installing road signs, ensuring clear and organized foot paths.

Mayanja says the council will work with the transport and communication ministry, to enforce the Greater Metropolitan Plan.
