Kasese Security Increased Following Reports of ADF Invasions

News
The Kasese Police Commander, Felix Ebong, has ordered all police posts across the district to be on the alert following reports that a large group of people entered Kasese from the Democratic Republic of Congo last week.
Ebong says it is suspected that among the group of more than 100 are members of the Allied Democratic Force (ADF), a Congo-based rebel group. He says security officers in the sub-counties bordering the Congo have been asked to be extra vigilant in stopping illegal entry into the country.
The Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF) has also been put on the alert. The spokesperson of the UPDF 507th Alpine Brigade, Lieutenant Robert Kamara, says a large number of soldiers have been deployed to the Rwenzori Mountains in search of the ADF rebels who are reportedly hiding in the foothills.
The Kasese Resident District Commissioner, Wilson Isingoma, says his office, together with the police, and army, is working with local leaders to encourage communities to report any rebel activity and to warn them against collaborating with the ADF.
