The government of Iceland has donated 1.2 billion shillings to the government of Uganda, for nutritional support to AIDS patients in Masaka, Tororo and Mbale districts.
The money channeled through Heifer International and The Aids Support Organization (TASO), will be used to buy cows and goats for the more than 1,500 people in the three districts.
400 goats and 20 cows were yesterday given to More than 50 Aids patients in Masaka district.
Heifer international country director, Patrick Nalere, says the cows and goats would enhance Nutrition for the AIDS patients.
Health experts say that malnourished AIDS patients find it harder to cope with the Anti-Retroviral therapy's debilitating side-effects and may take longer to recover their body's immunity to infection.
