Four UPDF Soldiers Killed in Battle with Karamojong Warriors

News
Four UPDF soldiers have been shot and killed in a gun battle with Karamojong warriors in Kotido district.

The Third Division army spokesperson, Lt Henry Obbo, says the gun battle was sparked off last evening by an ambush on a UPDF mobile patrol unit in Lailong village, in which four soldiers were killed.

Following the ambush by the Karamojong warriors, the UPDF opened fire in self defence and killed seven Karamojong warriors. Several other warriors ran in disarray, but later regrouped and launched retaliation attacks on the army.

Obbo says the warriors have so far engaged the army in three separate major battles since yesterday. He however says the army will not hesitate to use lethal weapons to dislodge the warriors from their strong hold in Lailong.

The army has confiscated more than 1,000 heads of cattle, which were left behind by the warriors as they fled army attacks.
