Police in Arua have arrested two notorious thugs for allegedly conning people of their money and other valuables.
The West Nile Regional Police Commander, Okello Makmot, has identified the two suspects as Akim Sinandugu and one Maliyamungu.
The duo was arrested on Wednesday shortly after they conned a farmer in Nebbi district of 90,000 shillings.
Makmot says the two suspects are part of a gang of thugs who trick unsuspecting victims into picking their fake wads of money and then turn around and beat them up demanding for genuine money.
He says the gangs usually beat up the victims and rob them before disappearing in the crowded streets.
In another development, the key suspect in the murder of former Nebbi District Police Commander, Felix Alworonga, has been transferred to Arua Prison, from where he escaped in February last year.
Makmot says Alworonga will in addition to Murder be charged with unlawful escape from detention.
