Police blocks FDC Demonstration in Masaka

A planned demonstration by FDC supporters in Masaka has been blocked.



The demonstration scheduled for Friday was blocked by Police on grounds that it could disrupt activities in the town.



Masaka district FDC coordinator, Ssalongo Senzooga, said yesterday that they had planned a peaceful demonstration to show solidarity to their jailed leader Dr Kiiza Besigye.

The District Police Commander (DPC), Martin Amoru said that he could not be convinced that the demonstration would end peacefully.

The DPC said that such a permission will only be granted when the emotions sorrounding Besigye's arrest have cooled.
