The Uganda National Examinations Board has ruled out the possibility of setting special examinations for more than 2,000students, whose examinations results were cancelled.
UNEB recently cancelled examination results for 2,742 candidates and withdrew examination centers for seven schools. The affected schools are St. Noa Girls School Zana, St Augustine College Wakiso, St. Jude SS Mityana, Kagadi Progressive SS, Kampala Citizens College School, Shuuku Vocational SS Bushenyi and Saviours SS Lira
UNEB spokesperson, Eva Konde, says preliminary findings from the investigations carried out so far show that all the students from the affected centers were involved in examinations malpractice.
Konde says special examinations can only be prepared for students whose exams are disrupted either because of war or instability. She maintains that UNEB is not ready to waste its resources on examination cheats.
Appearing before the social services committee of parliament, last week, the state minister for Education Gabriel Opio, insisted that students whose results were cancelled should not be pardoned because cheating is a crime.
Konde has advised students whose examination results were nullified to register afresh and prepare for this year's examinations.
